The Why Behind Hopeful Resilience

When my son was 17, a senior in high school, he came to me one day. He looked stricken and I asked him what was wrong. ChatGPT had just come out and he had excitedly been trying it out on everything he could think of. After the excitement wore off, he started to get upset. He told me he thought AI was going to take over everything and there would be no jobs left for humans. I was shocked that he had come to this conclusion. I explained to him that AI could never take over everything because it could never become truly human and have the values and feelings that humans possess. He challenged me with a "like what?" I started doing some research and read some books. As I got more and more into it, I realized that this was more than just my son. An entire generation had grown up in a digital age, not knowing what it was like without computers. I decided this quest to find our humanity and what truly makes us human is something I wanted to share with the wider world.
